Who can accompany you
- Your spouse / registered partner (cohabiting partners may also qualify under Swedish rules)
- Your children under 18
Each family member receives a residence permit for the same period as your study permit.
The most important rule: maintenance funds
Sweden does not check love; it checks money. You must show, in your bank account, enough funds to support yourself AND your whole family for the permit period, at the Swedish Migration Agency’s official monthly rates — a set amount for you, a further amount for your spouse, and an amount per child. These rates are updated by the Migration Agency, so we confirm the exact current figures when we build your file — and the funds must be genuinely available, because insufficient maintenance money is the most common reason family applications fail.
